stehen – das ist möglich 300 m über einem Fluss zwischen einem Staudamm und dem Beginn eines Canyons. Der Staudamm, das ist Glen Canyon Dam, der den Colorado River zum Lake Powell aufstaut. Der Canyon ist der Grand Canyon, die 450 km lange Schlucht, durch die der Colorado River fließt. Dazwischen liegt Horseshoe Bend, bei dem der Colorado eine Schleife fließt, die wie ein Huf aussieht. Menschenmassen pilgern zum Abgrund, um diese Flussschleife zu sehen und viele tun alles für ein gutes Selfie – leider manchmal tödlich, wie einige Wochen nach meinem Besuch geschehen.

that’s possible 1.000 ft above a river between a dam and the beginning of a canyon. Namely between Glen Canyon Dam which dams the Colorado River creating Lake Powell. And the 277 mi long Grand Canyon. In between is Horseshoe Bend which is a horseshoe-shaped incised meander of the Colorado River. Thousands of people want to see this natural wonder and many of them would nearly do everything for a good selfie – sometimes with a deadly end. As happened a few weeks after my visit.
