in der einzigen vollständig erhaltenen mittelalterlichen Klosteranlage nördlich der Alpen – dem UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe Kloster Maulbronn. Zehn Jahre nach der Gründung wurde 1147/48 der Konvent nach Maulbronn verlegt. Es erlebte Höhen und Tiefen, Blütezeit und weniger gute Zeiten. Bereits 1556 wurde eine evangelische Klosterschule eingerichtet, zu deren Schülern u. a. Johannes Keppler und Hermann Hesse gehörten. 1806 wurde das Kloster säkularisiert. Heute wird die Klosteranlage immer noch als Internat des Evangelischen Seminars genutzt. Ferner beherbergt es das Rathaus und weitere Verwaltungsgebäude der Gemeinde, kleine Geschäfte und Wohnungen.

An afternoon in a monastery

in the only completely preserved medieval monastery north of the Alps – the UNESCO World Heritage Maulbronn Monastery. Ten years after the monastery was founded it was relocated to Maulbronn in 1147/48. It experienced ups and downs, good times and less good times. Already in 1556, a Protestant convent school was established, Johannes Keppler and Hermann Hesse were students, to name a few. In 1806 the monastery was secularized. Today, it is still used as a boarding school of the Protestant Seminary. It also houses the city hall other administrative buildings of the community of Maulbronn as well as small shops and apartments.
