Im Hosmer Grove des Haleakala Nationalpark bin ich einem lustigen Gesellen bei der Nahrungssuche begegnet. Der ’I’iwi kommt noch häufig auf den hawaiianischen Inseln vor, zählt aber zu den bedrohten Arten. Mit seinem gebogenen, langen Schnabel ist er perfekt zum Saugen von Nektar von den Blüten des mamane Baumes angepasst.
