Das passt zu einem kleinen Abstecher, den ich auf dem Weg nach Bakersfield gemacht habe. Allerdings nicht zur Kreuzung der CA 46 und der CA 41, wo sich am 30. September 1955 der tödliche Unfall von James Dean ereignete. Bei Dauerregen und sehr tiefhängenden Wolken bin ich nur nach
Blackwells Corner gefahren, wo dieses überlebensgroße James Dean Mural von John Cerney steht. Hier im Ort soll Dean einen Stopp eingelegt haben, bevor er verunglückte. / In Blackwells Corner you can see this James Dean mural by John Cerney.

That’s a changed translation of the German title of “Rebel without Cause” with James Dean. On my way to Bakersfield a made short detour to Blackwells Corner where a James Dean mural by John Cerney stands. It is said that Dean stopped here before he drove on to where the accident occurred later.

Carrizo Plain National Monument: Soda Lake und im Hintergrund die Tremblor Range, an deren Fuß sich der San Andreas Graben befindet. Leider war es für die Fahrt dorthin mit einem normalen Pkw zu nass, aber die Natur freut sich. / Soda Lake and in the background Tremblor Range.
