Ein grandioser Ausblick auf Lanzarote am Mirador del Rio
Der Mirador del Rio war das letzte Highlight auf meiner Reise Anfang Mai. Der 475 m über dem Meeresspiegel liegende Aussichtspunkt wurde von César Manrique gestaltet und ist wie alle seine Werke in die natürliche Umgebung hineingebaut. Das Gebäude verzichtet vollständig auf rechte Winkel; alle Räume und sogar der Parkplatz sind rund. Von der Cafeteria mit ihren großen Panoramafenstern und den beiden Aussichtsbereichen hat man einen grandiosen Blick Richtung Süden über die Insel und auf den Chinijo-Archipel, dessen einzige bewohnte Insel, La Graciosa, genau gegenüber liegt.

A spectacular view on Lanzarote from the Mirador del Río
The Mirador del Río was the final highlight of my trip in early May. Located 475 meters above sea level, this viewpoint was designed by César Manrique and, like all his works, is seamlessly integrated into the natural surroundings. The building completely avoids right angles; all the rooms—and even the parking lot—are circular. From the cafeteria, with its large panoramic windows and two viewing areas, you have a magnificent view to the south across the island and toward the Chinijo Archipelago, whose only inhabited island, La Graciosa, lies directly across.
